Feline IRIS staging reference

A reading aid for a stage already assessed by your veterinary team, not a diagnosis or automatic treatment calculator.

CKD must be diagnosed first. Staging requires a stable, adequately hydrated patient and persistent findings. A low creatinine or SDMA value does not establish Stage 1 CKD. Blood pressure and urinary protein add further information.

Rounded guideline bands are not exact arithmetic conversions at every boundary. Your veterinarian resolves borderline values, conflicting markers, muscle loss and temporary changes. This page no longer returns an automatic stage or medication/fluid schedule from one input.

Questions for the clinic

• Which findings established the diagnosis?
• Was my cat stable when the stage was assessed?
• How do the markers, urine and blood pressure fit together?
• Which current problems have their own treatment and monitoring plan?
